About us
Nelly’s Childcare & Preschool is a family owned business that has been providing excellent childcare and educational services in the Bay Area since 2004. Our founder, Nelly Parada, is an educator with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Child Education and has over 40 years of experience as an infant and preschool teacher. She oversees our entire curriculum and monitors our program. Our staff includes a wide range of educators and professionals who provide a safe and caring environment for your child, as well as meaningful educational experiences in the areas of art, science, movement and language.
Our Philosophy
Children are active learners, full of creativity and curiosity about their world. They learn by daily interactions with materials and people. Nelly’s Childcare & Preschool recognizes that each child is unique in their strengths, interests, temperament, personality and style of learning. Learning is most significant when it happens during the child’s everyday experiences in the classroom and at home. Optimal learning occurs when the child’s own interests are recognized and carried out through planned activities and routines.
Respect and autonomy are heavily encouraged in our center. Language, cognitive, motor, and socio-emotional skills are developed in settings designed for our children and supervised by qualified personnel. Nelly’s Childcare & Preschool will provide an age appropriate environment accessible to children to encourage learning through play. We encourage good behavior by modeling effective approaches to problem solving rather than relying solely on teachers to manage conflicts. We also promote a non-discriminatory environment, accepting all races, cultures and religions.
Nelly’s Childcare and Preschool believes in a partnership between parents and teachers to develop complete individuals. Teachers will observe and assess children and work with families as needed to further development. Nelly’s Childcare and Preschool follows an eclectic model approach to child’s learning since it combines Play-Based Learning and a Developmental Cognitive model.
